Food Waste Week

Making food rescue fun

RoleCreative Director
Imperfect FoodsSan Francisco, CA2022

How do you make food rescue fun? With a giant plinko smoothie game, custom snack bikes, a giant delivery box photobooth, comedic radio ads and inflatable produce with googly eyes. Imperfect Foods was planning a roadshow across four cities, and the biggest ask was to make it sustainable.

The solution

With sustainability front and center, we fabricated the activations with biodegradable materials, upcycled parts and zero on-location waste.

We created a playground of interactive games, media and photo ops that combined entertainment, education and sign-up opportunities. Each piece was designed modularly to go on the road and scale to each venue.

The San Francisco event took place at Spark Social, a food truck park. We worked with the vendors to use Imperfect Foods produce in one dish of their choice, which carried the brand throughout the park.

The plinko smoothie board

The plinko board invited people to play for smoothies. When the disc landed, players received an Imperfect Foods buck to trade at a food truck for their smoothie. The board was built with recycled plastic dowels and a modular design that broke down easily to travel between cities.

The delivery box

To put the brand front and center, we took the first touchpoint people have with Imperfect Foods, the grocery delivery box, and scaled it into an immersive story. Inside, the box told the Imperfect Foods journey from farm to table in the brand’s playful, dynamic visual language.
